Company History

A family business founded over 60 years ago to design and manufacture portable machine tools, Reekie Machining were pioneers of in situ machining throughout the world. Although many of the Clydesdale and Reekie ranges of machines are still in use today, the company is better known these days as a machining specialist both on site and at our facility in Renfrewshire.

The company has grown and thrived by adapting to the changing demands of our customers and by keeping our people, equipment and systems at the forefront of what we do.

1946Date on certificate of incorporation. First recorded meeting of the board of R.J.Neilston Son Ltd. David Gladstone Balfour Reekie appointed as Technical Representative.
1948DGB Reekie acquires all shares
1949Company name changed to David Reekie & Sons Ltd
1973Moved from Paisley to Inchinnan Industrial Estate
1975Contracts include Ardyne Contract, George Wimpey, ME&C (Shell) Netherlands Dock & Shipbuilding Co, Esso, Antwerp Flour
1977David Gladstone Balfour Reekie died
1978Reekie machines ordered by Indian Petrochemicals; Hindustan Fertilisers; Brown & Root and Shell
1979AGM approves payment of first ever dividend
1983Circulators produced for Torness, Heysham II and Whessoe
1989Colin Reekie appointed MD
1994R5,000 machine manufactured and used on Uisge Gorm contract at LOL
1995Reekie machines ordered for CALRAM BARMAC, BHP at Nigg
1996Contracts included Shell, CNS, Anasuria contract for AMEC, Schiehallion for AMEC, Glas Dowr for LOL, Allseas Solitaire for Swan Hunter
1997 Cairu Brazil contract for Bluewater
2002Introduction of production software giving full traceability at the touch of a button
2003Plant investment of £166,000 in two new CNC lathes and a VMC
2004Achieved accreditation to ISO 9001:2000 BM Trada
2005Jared Reekie appointed Director and Company Secretary
2007CTC Marine contract in Norway
2008Purchase of a large machining capacity CNC Bridge Mill
20145 Axis CNC Machine Installed
2016David Reekie appointed MD
