Insitu Equipment Manager (REF: INEQMA0524)

Salary:   £39,000 – £44,916 (Dependent on Experience)

 

The Insitu Equipment Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all insitu machining equipment is correctly maintained, accurately logged in an out of the premises and that equipment is efficiently and effectively prepared for jobs.  This includes continually improving the process and ensuring resources are in place to ensure equipment is used and maintained correctly.

 

Location: The role is based at our machine shop in Inchinnan Business Park, Renfrew, beside Glasgow Airport.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

– Working with key stake holders determine what equipment is required and agree locations.

– Maintain a list of activities required; equipment to be prepped, equipment to be cleaned, equipment to be maintained, equipment to be put away, equipment to be repaired or assembled.

– Maintain the delivery note system to ensure that all equipment leaving the facility is logged to enable visibility of where machines are at any time and to keep a record of all equipment returned and to report any lost / missing equipment.

– Ensure all returning equipment is properly cleaned and replenished with any missing parts and returned to the correct storage location.

– Ensure East Factory is kept in an orderly state – Audit ready culture.

– Maintain visual management system.

– Create and maintain correct kitting for equipment.

– Prepare equipment for projects ensuring that everything is there and in working order and there are enough of the correct tooling and spares.

– Put forward recommendations for improvement projects e.g. making up standardised air systems for use on feed systems and air drills, making up stud drilling packs for common sizes (hardened cup drill bush, correct size of drill, holding down inserts

– Undertake layout/ organisation/process improvement projects to constantly improve on the facility and to constantly drive down the time it takes for equipment preparation for each job.

– Responsible for company vans and their maintenance schedule.

– Line management duties for reportees. Including holiday and absence management and training and development, daily team meetings.

– Promote and adhere to Health and Safety & Environmental policies, setting and maintaining housekeeping standards.

– Promote quality throughout the company.

– Be an ambassador for company Values

– Driving KPI to hit targets.

– Be a key holder for the factory, including open and closing.

– Challenging the norm’s

– Support operational demands in relation to daily quality, cost and delivery challenges

– Ensure NCRs are closed out effectively and within company timescales.

– Be efficient and work to companies lean philosophy.

 

What do I need to do the role?

The ideal candidate will have the following:

 

Skills and Experience – Essential:

– Time served Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting or similar.

– Strong problem-solving skills.

– Highly organised, with a good attention to detail and strong sense of accountability and adaptability.

– Maintains a positive attitude in challenging circumstances.

– Can make decisions quickly and juggle multiple demands.

– Ability to work on their own and as part of a team

– Good organisational skills to manage time efficiently and effectively.

– Be a confident communicator, both written and verbal to external and internal customers.

– Be a self-starter and maximise personal effectiveness by way of continuous improvement.

– Be computer literate to an intermediate level in MS Office and MRP Systems

– Work with a zero-defect mentality.

 

Skills and Experience – Desirable:

– Line Management qualification – Training will be provided

– Experience of carry out insitu machining work

– Supervisory experience – support and training to develop these will be provided.

 

Work Pattern:

Normal working hours are as follows:

Mon–Thurs     0745hrs to 1610hrs – 10min paid tea break, 25 min unpaid lunch break

Fri                        0745hrs to 1245hrs – 10 min paid tea break

To suit short term business requirements, you may be required to work, day shift, night shift or back shift , this is a condition of the employment.

CNC Machinist - Miller or Turner (REF: MSCNC0723)

The Role

We are looking for CNC Machinist (Turner or Miller) with experience in programming machines or who are willing and keen to learn and develop their skills to become a great machinist.  Training and support will be given to enhance employees’ skills set.

 

Skill Set

– Ideally you will have experience of Fanuc control system, to program, set and operate. We would also consider candidates with experience of any of the following Fanuc/Heidenhain/Fagor control systems.

– Be able to programme the machine from a drawing then machine the part with minimum supervision.

– Carry out offline programming at the work centre, training can be given to support this.

– Ability to be flexible in a dynamic working environment.

– Work on own initiative, proactive problem solvers.

– Keen to learn and develop new skills.

– Willing to work overtime at short notice.

– Physically fit.

– Good standard of English, written, spoken, and reading.

 

 

Location

There is also the potential for the candidate to support our in-situ machining squad during busy periods, offering a higher rate and more hours, working at various sites throughout the UK and occasionally abroad. The rate is generally 1.5 times the machine shop rates and consist of 10-12 hour working days.

Insitu Machinist (REF: INMA0723)

The Role

We are looking for dynamic machinists, who are looking to broaden their skill out on sites.  Do you enjoy a challenge and solving problems?  Do you fancy working in a wide variety of settings from nuclear power industry, oil and gas, renewables as well as aerospace, heavy industry and naval construction and refits and many more.  The work is primarily based on sites across the UK, with increasing work in Europe and Worldwide.

– Must be a time-served skilled machinist.  No previous experience of insitu machining is required as support to develop your skills in the insitu environment will be provided.

Salary and Benefits

– Ability to earn up to £70,000 per year.

– Accrued Leave, accumulated at 0.1hrs per hour worked on site, paid at basic shop rate.

– The basic shop rate is £17.77/hr, enhanced rates for work on site, including dayshift, nightshift, offshore and more.

– 5% wage increase May 2024

– Overtime is paid at time and a half outside normal hours and double time Saturday after 12noon and all-day Sunday.

– Holiday entitlement, 25 days annual holidays and 8 days of public holidays each holiday year, all paid at holiday rate. (Based on the last 52 worked weeks)

– One additional day annual holiday for every 10 years’ service completed.
