The role of an Insitu Project Engineer at Reekie Machining is both exciting and challenging, with responsibility for overseeing insitu projects from start to finish. Key Responsibilities:

 – Machining Solutions:

* Generate customized machining solutions for non-standard projects.

* Create detailed designs, including drawings, and work orders for manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and bespoke tooling.

 – Project Estimation & Planning:

* Estimate project timelines, prepare proposals, and ensure adherence to the company’s pricing structure.

* Plan projects efficiently, considering risk, cost, and strict time constraints.

 – Customer & Team Communication:

* Manage relationships with customer accounts to enhance project success and conversion rates.

* Communicate job details clearly to the technical team using pre-job briefs.

 – Project Monitoring & Correction:

* Monitor ongoing projects, take corrective actions if necessary, and be available for calls or site visits beyond regular hours.

 – Customer Satisfaction:

* Maximize customer satisfaction through regular communication, and identify opportunities for future business.

* Conduct site visits for quoting new projects or supporting ongoing ones, requiring occasional travel and overnight stays.

 – Continuous Improvement:

* Identify opportunities to improve company processes and contribute to strategic goals.

 

Requirements

Essential:

 – Education: A degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.

 – Mechanical Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems and principles.

 – Attention to Detail: A methodical, accurate, and organized approach to work.

 – Technical Skills:

* Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings.

* Comfortable using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks.

 – Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Capable of making quick decisions and handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-changing environment.

 – Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills to build rapport with clients and coordinate with the internal team.

 – Driving License: Required for site visits.

 – Teamwork: Works well in a team while also managing independent projects.

 – Comfort with Uncertainty: Able to handle the unpredictability of insitu machining work.

 

Desirable:

 – Machining Knowledge: Broad understanding of different machining techniques, with insitu machining experience preferred.

 – Sales Experience: Experience in sales or working with clients on technical projects.

 – Faro Tracker Experience: Familiarity with Faro Tracker for precision measurement.

 – Safety Certification: Possession of a CCNSG Safety Passport.

Working hours: Normal working week is 38hrs Monday-Friday, although there will be additional hours required as dictated by workload and projects.

CNC Machinist - Miller or Turner (REF: MSCNC0723)

The Role

We are looking for CNC Machinists – Turners and Millers with experience in programming machines or who are willing and keen to learn and develop their skills to become a great machinist.  Training and support will be given to enhance employees’ skills set.

 

Skill Set

– Ideally you will have experience of Fanuc control system, to program, set and operate. We would also consider candidates with experience of any of the following Fanuc/Heidenhain/Fagor control systems.

– Be able to programme the machine from a drawing then machine the part with minimum supervision.

– Carry out offline programming at the work centre, training can be given to support this.

– Ability to be flexible in a dynamic working environment.

Operations Manager

The position of Operations Manager is a senior role within the company that reports directly to the Managing Director. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that operations are safe, efficient, and effective.  The role covers the management of the operations’ supervisors and all machinists. The key success criteria is to ensure that all employees have the required skill sets and are high performing.  Although much of the time will be focused on driving long term improvements, you will also be involved day to day operations and activities, primarily supporting the supervisors and allocating resources.

 

Activities

– Provide positive leadership and management to operations to promote a highly engaged and productive operations. Drive growth of operations team including coaching, training and recruitment.

– Responsible for all matters related to Quality, Health and Safety and Environment, and continual improvement in this area.  Support QHSE eternal consultant with audits and re-certification

– Plan insitu resources and maintain an up-to-date plan, including holiday and accrued leave approvals, supporting supervisors to ensure best use of resources, and onboarding and management of insitu contractors.

– Support insitu Project Engineers to ensure insitu projects are delivered successfully and productively.

– Responsible for actioning NCR process to ensure lessons are learned and to promote continual improvement.

– Available to take calls and make arrangements out with business hours, including weekends when supervisors are unavailable or for more serious issues.

– Responsible for ensuring maintenance of facility, machines, and equipment.

– Deliver regular toolbox talks, primarily to promote safety and to motivate and engage staff.

– Ensure all operations staff have regular reviews, and carry out disciplinaries when required with support from HR Manager

We are looking for Mechanical Fitters to grow the fitting department, which has a growing demand on its resource with new machines, including portable CNC, being designed and developed in the company.

 

Location: The role is based at our machine shop in Inchinnan Business Park, Renfrew, beside Glasgow Airport.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

– Be experience in putting together machine parts, installing, maintaining and repairing plants and equipment.

– Be able to assemble parts made from metals or other materials to create production equipment and machinery.

– Be able read and follow technical drawing to build machine parts with minimum supervision.

The Role

– Overtime is paid at time and a half outside normal hours and double time Saturday after 12noon and all-day Sunday.

– Holiday entitlement, 25 days annual holidays and 8 days of public holidays each holiday year, all paid at holiday rate. (Based on the last 52 worked weeks)
